The past week for student loan borrowers has had a lot of ups and downs from the introduction of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) refinancing bill that comes to rescue for the 40 million Americans with $1.2 trillion in student loan debt to yesterday’s disappointing defeat of the bill after Senate Republicans voted against it.

Although this is a setback in the student debt crisis, we remember the previous fights in Congress to help protect middle-class Americans. One in particular is the roundtable House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held with Generation Progress during our Campus Progress days about student debt.

This Flashback Friday video also reminds us that the fight for common-sense legislation to solve the student debt crisis will continue as long as we have progressive leaders in Congress who will vote for legislation that helps the 40 million American borrowers with student debt.

Another reason we are excited to rewatch this video is we just announced today that Pelosi will be speaking at our national conference this summer!
