Layla is the Managing Director for Generation Progress. She oversees the work from each Generation Progress team, and ensures that the voices of young people are heard in the policy and advocacy fights being had across the country. Previously, as Communications Director, she worked to develop communications plans, marketing strategy, and engaging digital campaigns in order to mobilize target audiences around political, legislative and advocacy issues. Her team is responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive online brand campaigns, graphic design, web management, email outreach and social media campaigns, and outreach to traditional and non-traditional press and media.
Before joining Generation Progress, Layla worked for LivingSocial as a marketing specialist, consulting with business owners across the country to increase their online presence and grow their customer base. Previously, she has held roles promoting the public’s voice in public education with DC VOICE and developing outreach strategies to connect college students with federal news at the Partnership for Public Service. Layla graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and holds a BSFS in international politics. In her spare time, Layla enjoys playing soccer, traveling, reading, and trying really hard to cook.
