Kiayna O’Neal is the digital communications associate at Generation Progress. Kiayna previously worked as the lead field organizer in Brevard County for the Florida Democratic Party’s 2018 midterm coordinated campaign for Andrew Gillum and former Sen. Bill Nelson (D). She graduated in 2018 with a master of science in Global Strategic Communication from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Kiayna’s graduate thesis examined both the stigma surrounding mental health disorders on college campuses and the means by which the campus counseling and psychological services could improve their communication with students and faculty. Following graduation in 2018, she worked as multimedia reporter for a youth sports organization and a correspondent for a local paper. Prior to graduate school, she served as president of her the senior class and a student-athlete at Carson-Newman University where she completed her undergraduate work.
During her spare time she likes to watch bad reality TV with a glass of wine and enjoys a good Netflix binge. Kiayna is originally from Texas and is excited to experience all that DC has to offer.
