Kiara Richardson an organizing associate for Generation Progress, where she works on the Generation Progress climate storybank and organizing the We Are Progress Action trainings in ten states.
Prior to joining Generation Progress, Richardson served as program manager for a non-profit energy conservation company where she became a Certified Energy Manager and worked to lower the energy burdens for low to moderate-income families. During that time she developed a passion for the environment and energy equality. In 2016, Kiara joined the Ohio Democratic Party as a field organizer so she could help elect Democrats up and down the ballot. She continued her organizing activities after the 2016 election, and became a member of Central Ohio Young Black Democrats and also campaigned for candidates endorsed by Yes We Can Columbus to help get progressive Democrats elected to City Council and School Board.
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio Richardson is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University where she received a B.S. in Human Ecology. She also earned an M.B.A. specializing in project management and became Six Sigma Green Belt certified at Ashland University.
Drawing from her passion for energy, Richardson is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy where she has served as a board member, Vice-President and President of the Columbus Chapter. Richardson is also a 2018 New Leaders Council fellow.
