This week, over a hundred state legislators left their homes, states, and families to come to the Capitol and call on the Senate to pass the For The People Act before the August recess. The momentum to pass this much-needed legislation and protect the freedom to vote at the federal level is only building—and young people are critical players in this movement. Recognizing that young people, and particularly young people of color, are uniquely impacted by the spate of anti-voter laws being passed at the state and local levels, our generations have been on the front lines calling for the passage of this critical bill and for President Biden to do all in his power to enact this legislation.
Join Generation Progress, Declaration for American Democracy, the Young Elected Officials Network, young activists, and state legislators on Friday, August 6, 2021 at noon E.T. for a virtual event to learn more about what’s happening on the ground at the state level, what’s next in the fight for the For The People Act, and how young people can get involved.
Featuring state representatives, including:
- Rep. London Lamar (TN)
- Rep Anna Eskamani (FL)
- Rep. Park Cannon (GA)
