Mina Jafari is the Digital Media Associate for Generation Progress, where she is running GenProgress’ social media accounts and producing video and graphic design content.
Prior to joining Generation Progress, Mina was the Graphics & Communications Associate and later Digital Media Manager at the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and its sister organization NIAC Action. During her four years at NIAC, she produced videos, spearheaded digital media campaigns, created graphics and branding material, and increased the organization’s social media following and email list by tens of thousands.
While studying at the University of Maryland, double-majoring in Persian Studies and Government & Politics, she continued to pursue her interests in graphic design and marketing, launching her own design company.
From February 2012 until May 2013, Mina taught English in Iran, with a keen interest to learn more about work, social, and home life in the country under tough economic sanctions. While there, she met her future husband, Hesam. Last year, they were married in Iran after Trump’s Muslim Ban prevented her husband’s family from traveling to the United States for the wedding.
